In order to have a successful orientation experience, it is critical you bring the following items:
1. Your G Number
Make sure you have your Mason G# handy during orientation. Some students choose to keep it on paper, in an email, or on their phone. If you do not know your G#, contact the Office of Admissions at (703) 993-2400 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Mason NetID and Patriot Pass Password
These are items you set up when completing the Freshman Orientation Checklist. You will need them handy when registering for courses at orientation. If you haven’t already, make sure you set up your Patriot Pass password.
3. Photo Identification
During orientation, you will be asked to provide photo identification (ID, license, or passport) to verify your identity and to receive your Mason ID. Mason ID cards will be distributed at the registration site. Please note there will be no structured time to take Mason ID photos during orientation. You can submit a photo online or visit the Mason Card office to get your photo done on campus.
4. Comfortable Clothing and Overnight Bag
Orientation for all students does require some time both inside and outside. For freshman students, there will events coordinated by Mason Recreation in the Recreation Athletic Complex. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes for your visit. If you reserved a student overnight accommodation during orientation, you will need to bring a bag with a change of clothes for the following day, toiletries, and any other additional items needed for an overnight stay. Bedding (pillow, sheets, and light blanket) will be provided. Please note, we are unable to store any bags after housing check out on the second day of orientation.
5. Immunization Records
Student Health Services must receive your immunization records before the first day of classes. We encourage you to bring completed copies with you to your orientation session. Failure to turn in your Immunization Records before the deadline will result in a hold on your account, which will prevent you from registering for the next semester’s classes.
In order to avoid registration delays, download and submit a copy of the Immunization Record form to Student Health Services. Their office is located in Student Union Building I, Room 2300.
6. Admissions Documentation
We recommend you bring any documentation from Admissions, New Student and Family Programs, or paperwork from an academic advisor. If applicable, you may choose to bring unofficial transcripts from your previous institution showing dual enrollment credit, AP or IB scores, or transfer credit.
7. Parking Pass for Orientation
The orientation parking pass allows you to park in the designated parking lot for free. This pass is specific to your Mason Orientation date so please be sure to use this pass to avoid any parking issues. Click and download the pass below and place on your driver-side dashboard on Orientation day.
