Placement Testing

Math Placement Testing

For new students needing to take the Math Placement test, we recommend completing one the following options leading up to orientation. Please be advised that new students may take the Math Placement test after December 1, 2018.

If you are in a program that requires the Math Placement test, we strongly encourage you to take it in advance of your orientation session so you can receive the most accurate academic advising and registration experience.

As you make plans please note that the test can last up to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Please be aware that students may only take each section twice per registration year, from March 2018 to January 2019. New chances will not be available until March 2019. For more information about the test requirements as you prepare, visit the Math Department website here.

All majors within the Volgenau School of Engineering and School of Business as well as many other majors at Mason will require the Advanced Math Placement Test. If you are in a program that requires the Math Placement test, we strongly encourage you to take it in advance of your orientation session so you can receive the most accurate academic advising and registration experience.
