Freshman Students
Freshman undergraduate students enrolling for the first time at George Mason are charged a $350 New Student Fee and Transfer Students enrolling for the first time at George Mason are charged a $275 New Student Fee. This fee covers all costs associated with new student orientation, as well as key transition events and initiatives such as Preamble, Welcome2Mason, and other new student programs and events offered throughout the school year. The mandatory, one-time fee is assessed regardless of enrollment or orientation attendance and is nonrefundable. The fee will appear on your student account upon registration for classes and you will pay for it at the same time you pay for your tuition and other fees.
DO NOT submit payment for this fee prior to Orientation. It will be billed to your student account and you will pay for it at the same time you pay for your tuition and other fees. Students who are Pell Grant eligible and receive 0% Estimated Family Contribution on their FAFSA will have their New Student Fee waived for their student account prior to the start of their first semester.
